Hi all! I am a proud military wife, a mom to two amazing children and a fitness fanatic. Family life doesn’t leave much time for long trips to the gym or cooking elaborate meals. Yet, I believe there is balance.  As a busy mom, I am all about fitting short effective workouts into my daily schedule and finding quick and easy healthy meals my family will love. In rare spare time, I am learning yoga, photography and golf 🙂 I couldn’t live without peanut butter, Amazon Prime, coffee and books.

Nothing prepared me for how little time I had left for myself after Baby #2.  If you are in the same boat, read on! Hope you will find this blog a little entertaining and also helpful in discovering:

  • Healthy recipes that are quick & easy
  • Exercise ideas you can fit into a busy schedule
  • Meal planning & portion control tips
  • How to workout smarter not harder
  • …And a little bit of my daily happenings 🙂

I used to think that I didn’t have time to go to the gym regularly, or cook healthy meals because that required too much time. I was certain that clean eating was packing chicken and broccoli for lunch evvvvery day, and it seemed so boring. I still enjoyed going to turbo-kick classes at the gym and eating a salad with my meal, but I had no system. I was lacking a long lasting plan.

Then the kids were born and my pursuit of a healthy lifestyle became more intentional.  I knew that I wanted to be around for them for a long time.  I wanted to be healthy and active 20, 30, 40 years from now.  More importantly, I wanted to set a good example and ingrain in their young minds that you are what you eat and that active people live more fulfilling lives. So I dove into research, published studies, healthy blogs and books. Over the years I developed a system that has worked really well with my busy schedule. Current fitness routine includes home-based workouts and training for a 5K in between. I do not follow a certain diet but rather stick with a portion control meal plan and a 80/20 rule. This busy mamma doesn’t have time to count calories 🙂

Oh my goodness, the “old me” would have loved to know what I know now! For example, there is such a thing as too much of a healthy food (hello, fellow avocado lovers). Or that you can sculpt your abs without a single crunch! This is how the blog was born. I am truly passionate about inspiring others to live a healthy lifestyle and share what I’ve learned.  I want to show all the busy moms out there that YES you can do it too!!! There are ways to fit exercise into a busy lifestyle, eat well balanced meals and develop confidence in yourself.

Don’t get me wrong – I am still learning – and setting new goals.  It’s always a work in progress – physically, intellectually, emotionally. But this is what makes life fun, right?  Hope you enjoy my blog and stick around for a while! A good starting point would be My Recipe Collection.
